The Fulbright Comission is an international exchange program that has learning, research, and teaching programs for undergraduate and graduate students. The Summer Institute, which I attended at the University of Bristol, is strictly for freshmen and sophomores and occurs for 3-4 weeks over the summer. As of now, there are ten participating universities, each offering their own unique program. All the programs are designed to teach students about the heritage and history of the U.K. as it relates or compares to the overarching topic. For example, we learned how the legacy of the Transatlantic slave trade has played a larger role in the history of the U.K. and the infrastructure and businesses within the country today.
